Flood Project Coordinating Committee
In April of 2005 the cities of Reno and Sparks, along with the University of Nevada, Reno and Washoe County entered into a cooperative agreement that set the path for the implementation of a Truckee River Flood Management Project committee. Each of these entities appointed two voting members and one alternate, representing the needs and concerns of citizens affected by flooding issues.
There are also more than a dozen non-voting members comprised of citizens representing the community at large, municipal offices and staff who provide technical expertise, advice and support. The members appointed were from districts that were severely impacted when the Truckee River flowed over its banks and into the surrounding communities during the floods of New Year's Day 1997 and New Year's Eve 2005.
The Flood Project Coordinating Committee meets the 2nd Friday of every month, see meeting announcements for more details.
