Ron Zurek

Ronald M. Zurek joined the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) in 1993 as Director for Economic Development. In 2002 he was appointed to his current position of Vice President for Administration and Finance.
Prior to UNR, Ron spent more than 40 years in the private sector. He served as the president of First Interstate Bank of Nevada and executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Security Bank of Nevada. In 1974, Ron earned his MBA from California Lutheran College in Thousand Oaks, CA.
Ron is trustee emeritus, past vice president for finance and a member of the executive and investment committees of the University of Nevada, Reno Foundation. He is a member of the Reno Philharmonic Board of Trustees and served several years as chairman of the RPA Endowment Trust.
Ron has long been active in the community, serving as chairman of the Reno Philharmonic Endowment and founder trustee of the Community Foundation of Western Nevada; past president of the United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra; board of directors of the Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America; YMCA board of directors; Reno's H.O.M.E. project; and the City Charter Review Committee.
Ron and his wife, JoAnn, have lived in Reno since 1982 and have 2 children and 3 grandchildren.
