The Truckee River Flood Management Department, Washoe County, invited sealed statements of qualifications from professional engineering consultants to perform engineering and economic analysis services for the "Truckee River Flood Funding Area Project". The project area will incorporate all of Washoe County and parts of Storey County.
The local partners' share of project costs is expected to be approximately $400 million. Funding for the project is currently being provided through imposition of a 1/8-cent sales tax, the remaining capacity of which is expected to generate $100 million in bond funds over 30 years. A gap of $300 million remains. It is anticipated that the Truckee River Flood Project will partially fill the funding gap through creation of one or more funding areas (referred to as "funding areas" in this RFQ), as well as through grants from other federal and state sources. Currently, the funding areas are anticipated to debt finance approximately $300 million over 30 years.
